ARC England asked Matt Lester, the current co‑chair of our Together4Change co-production and advocacy group, to share his thoughts about England’s upcoming match with Argentina.
Matt is a keen football fan and always follows our national team, often asking us if we’ll be watching the matches and would like to predict the score.
Matt says:
“I just remembered the game of England vs Argentina in ’96 and Southgate missed penalty to Beckham getting sent off, and now look at Tuchel, he has build up to Argentina again.
Hope we win but my question is can we stop Messi, as he is the best player in the world and can we do it? And yes the World Cup has been great and strange decision from referee (wonder how much they been paid).
Just enjoy the game as we go into it as underdogs – can we get revenge from ’96 or ’98? Let’s see but if we get to final and win, it will make me happy. We have new Prime Minister so bank holiday? Let’s see what happens. I be in hotel watching it – so Come on England!!
As I think we party like forever so roll it on!!
