Gig Buddies

Gig Buddies pairs people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people with volunteers who share their interests, whether that’s music, culture, eating out or any nightlife activity they enjoy.
A project by Stay Up Late, a charity that enables adults with learning disabilities and autistic people to lead active social lives and make decisions about how they want to live their life. |

Autism-friendly rail networks
|
· GWR (Great Western Railway): Recognized for the entire network, providing improved information and station environments.
· Community Rail Lancashire: Developed the first “Autism Friendly Line” (Blackburn to Manchester Victoria via Todmorden), including helpful station films. · Tyne and Wear Metro: Awarded the National Autistic Society Autism Friendly Award in 2023. · General Rail Industry Support: Many providers offer “Hidden Disability” support, such as assistance cards. Key Features of Autism-Friendly Travel · Visual Guides: Network Rail provides guides with pictures and sounds of stations and trains to aid preparation.
