* Online Training Course* Introduction to Loss and Bereavement and People with Learning Disabilities – 7th December 2020
7th December 2020 @ 9:45 am - 4:00 pm
Online virtual training course (via Zoom) delivered by psychotherapist David O’Driscoll
Monday 7th December 2020 – 9.45am – 4.00pm
Dealing with a loss can be hard for us all. If you work in a role caring and supporting people with a learning disability, ARC’s virtual training course offers practical help and theoretical models to enable you to support someone with a learning disability through the loss of a family member or friend.
This is a popular course so we advise booking as soon as possible.
Session Two (afternoon) : The second session will focus on practical responses, including a checklist of what social care services should be doing. It will also look at specific interventions such as ‘social stories’ and ‘social scripts’. There will be an opportunity to look at a delegate’s concerns around a service user and a case formation session. This will be an opportunity for the group to put theory from the course into practice.
David O’Driscoll is a psychotherapist working in the NHS, chair of the Institute of Psychotherapy and Disability and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Hertfordshire.
Both sessions will last approximately 2.5 hours with 20 minute breaks in the morning and afternoon plus a 30 minute lunch break. It will be delivered via Zoom with a PowerPoint presentation. Delegates will be sent the PowerPoint material beforehand.
£65 ARC Members/ £85 Non-members
