Qualification Options

We currently offer the following City & Guilds Assessment qualifications:

  • Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
  • Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
  • Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

 

The Qualifications for Internal Quality Assurance are for people working in or looking to enter roles in Internal Quality Assurance, including within the areas of endpoint assessment. The purpose of these qualifications is to ensure that those who are tasked with the Internal Quality Assurance of the assessment process and practice of Assessors are qualified and competent to do so; by ensuring the Internal Quality Assurer is confident and capable of monitoring the range of assessment practice and activities, including that of assessment judgments against relevant criteria.

The units and qualifications will provide people, who carry out Internal Quality Assurance roles in their organisation with the opportunity to demonstrate, develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification. There are knowledge only units, which allow anyone who is interested in or needs to know about, Internal Quality Assurance, but is not a practitioner, to acquire knowledge about the process. These are stand-alone units but are also included in each qualification as the basis for competent practice.

ARC is an accredited centre with City & Guilds for the delivery of these qualifications and believes high-quality training of the content of the TAQA qualifications is fundamental to ensuring quality in all vocational learning qualifications.

You will need to complete just one unit, this is:

  • Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

This is a knowledge Award for those who are starting their journey as an Internal Quality Assurance practitioner or for those who need to know about internal quality assurance but who are not carrying out quality assurance themselves. This could be:

  • Those planning to take on or taking on a quality assurance role
  • Training or HR Managers to raise awareness of the role and/or for CPD
  • Assessors to raise awareness of quality assurance
  • Centre managers

ARC will offer this as stand alone training or training and qualification.

You will need to complete just two units, these are:

  • Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
  • Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

For practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre or organisation, by planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors.

ARC will offer this Award for those undertaking a role in Internal Quality Assurance, which is equivalent to the previous internal verifier role.

12 credits

You will need to complete three units, these are:

  • Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
  • Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
  • Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility. Imported Management unit.

This Certificate is for those who lead the internal quality assurance process within a centre/organisation and have a responsibility for managing the quality of the assessment processes, practice and the performance of assessors. They may also develop systems and lead on visits from outside agencies such as awarding organisations.

ARC will offer this Certificate for those responsible for managing the Quality Assurance processes.

All learners vary on the timescale to complete their qualification.
When you register, you will be given a specified target date in which to achieve your qualification, you can complete your qualification sooner than the target date if you are able to submit work regularly and at a good pace. Specific target dates can be discussed and agreed with your Assessor.

Total Qualification Time (TQT) is set at 700 hrs, this is based on the average amount of time taken to achieve this qualification, over an average completion period of 18 – 24 months.

(including Registration, Learner Pack, Assessment and Certification) from:

    • Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – £722.
    • Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – £1,503.
    • Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – £1,730.

     

These prices are reduced significantly for learners and organisations with their own in-house assessor support.

This will prompt support for you to consider all the aspects involved in undertaking the qualification and ensure the right one is selected for you. You will also need to seek permission from your organisation to collect evidence in the workplace.
